What Japanese drums connect
Connect with your body
Playing Japanese drums is an aerobic exercise that involves a full-body workout that promotes cardiovascular health. In addition, by increasing body awareness, we can expect to improve exercise performance, strengthen the connection between body and mind, and improve well-being.
connect with heart
It has been proven that playing Japanese drums with vibration, rhythm, and melody in a double-strike method activates the prefrontal cortex and has a relaxing effect that increases alpha waves. Immerse yourself in the performance to create a state of flow, improve concentration and cognitive ability, and have a meditative effect that promotes liberation and healing of the mind.
connect with society
Wadaiko performances create mutual understanding and a sense of unity within the community. In addition, by releasing and expressing yourself through Japanese drums, you will strengthen your non-verbal communication skills. Through playing Japanese drums, you can deepen your connection with society, relieve loneliness, and increase your sense of well-being.
Why Japanese drums now?
In recent years, uncertainties such as climate change, pandemics, wars, and political upheavals have become the norm. In addition to social changes, the rapid evolution of AI poses existential questions to all of humanity. Under such circumstances, mental health is deteriorating all over the world, and it is becoming a big problem. Once again, people are required to restore and strengthen their connections with their bodies, minds, and society, and increase their well-being and resilience.
Various health effects have been proven in Japanese drum performance, which requires unique vibrations, rhythms and melodies, self-expression and communication. “Kodou Rondo” aims to promote self-expression and self-liberation through Japanese drums, pursue a comfortable meditative state, and promote free expression and respect for individuality to improve the physical and mental health of participants. We aim to improve. By combining elements of nature, yoga and meditation, and community into our programs, we provide participants with the opportunity to reconnect with their minds, bodies, and society.
Features of Kodou Rondo
Using Japanese drums as a therapeutic tool
•The Japanese drum is not a percussion instrument, but a therapeutic tool that promotes self-expression and self-liberation through beating. We aim to improve the physical and mental well-being of our participants by reducing stress, restoring energy and enhancing resilience.
Pursuing a comfortable state of flow and meditation
More than playing music, I place importance on entering a comfortable meditative state through wadaiko. Therefore, we offer unique programs that combine various techniques such as yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation.
Respect participants' individuality and bring out their creativity
We bring out the individuality and creativity of the participants through free performances that match their individual levels and expressiveness, without being bound by traditional Japanese drum culture, difficult songs or performance styles.
